Bungle Bungle Range

location-img

Another World Heritage Site, the Bungle Bungles, is perhaps the best example of cone karst in sandstones worldwide.

They were carved out of sandstone deposited about 360 million years ago.

Constant erosion by creeks, rivers and weathering in the past 20 million years has carved out these domes, along with spectacular chasms and gorges, creating a surreal landscape.

Please note that you will need a four-wheel drive vehicle to access the road to the Bungle Bungles, and it should not be attempted without one.ย  You can hire a four-wheel drive in Kununurra or Broome.

Getting There

The Bungle Bungles are accessible by vehicle but make sure you understand the terrain and risks.

You will need to fly into the area first, with Broome and Kununurra hosting scheduled services from Perth.
