Broome

Exotic is the best way to capture the magic of Broome.

The town is the gateway to the pristine wilderness of the Kimberley. It has developed a unique multicultural character that pays homage to its European and Asian immigrant history.

Broome was the world's leading offshore pearling port. This attracted immigrants from Asia long before the great waves of Asian migration in the 1970s.

Many of today's residents can trace their ancestry back to that time.

Tourism is now the largest industry in Broome, bringing world-class resorts and excellent dining options.

Flights arrive regularly from Perth and other parts of Australia, such as Darwin and seasonally from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Getting There

Broome airport is the gateway to the Kimberley region and has regular flights from Perth on both Qantas and Virgin.

Qantas also operates flights from Darwin and seasonally from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Given its hub status for the region, you can also get flights from points across the region.

Driving remains an option, but the 23-hour journey from Perth will need to be done in stages, hopefully taking in many sights along the way.

A bus departs from Perth, but the marathon journey takes about 35 hours.

Accommodation Options

Broome is the centre of tourism in the state’s North West and therefore boasts world-class hotels and accommodations.
