Golden Outback

Covering just over half of Western Australia, the Golden Outback takes its name from the mining industry that has driven its economic growth since the days of the first gold rush over a century before.

The region stretches from the rugged red Earth of Mt Augustus and Kennedy Ranges in the north to the sweeping snow-white beaches of Esperance and the South Coast.

At its very heart lies the hub of Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields, which is a fascinating destination for those interested in modern mining.

In the Wheatbelt to the West, picturesque rolling farmland is dotted with colourful rural townships, granite outcrops, farm stays and Wave Rock.
